Check “MATE”

I just returned from a wonderful vacation in Geneva Switzerland. Part of my tour,  I visited  Geneva’s Old Town and the famous Parc des Bastions. While walking the narrow cobblestone streets of the Old Town, I came across a business sign, “Smart Divorce” it said, and offered the contact information of an attorney. Wow.. talk about obvious. I had heard that divorces in Geneva could be rather lucrative, but making it so obvious, what a nerve.. I don’t know who that attorney is, but I like her, or him if it applies.

Right next to the Old Town, is the “Parc Des Bastions”.  This  park is not only famous for its history, but also for its life size chess boards.  These chess boards are amazing. The park has several of these chess boards situated near one of the entrance of the park. Each chess board is perhaps 16 feet across. Savvy chess players and rookies alike can walk the boards and navigate around the pawns and plan their strategy. Well, given my pleasant nature, I decided to cut to the chase and go after the king with no hesitation!. I shall confess that it was a rather pleasant victory. The King had pretty much no chance. I think the picture says it all!

For what is worth, even the genius who invented this game knew that Kings have pretty much no chance in close encounters with the Queens!. Specially if it’s not their own queen! The Queen keeps checking and the King keeps running. At the end, there is only so much room to run. Every board has its own boarders, sooner or later the King will come to the end of the road, and the Queen is there to greet him.  Check..”Mate”..

An advice for the fluting guys…your queen comes first… cut the crap and return home or expect to be “CHECKED” by your “MATE”. Trust me, you won’t survive.
